Dear East Area,   My name is Mimi (Noémi) Guzmán and I am running for UTLA Board of Directors to represent YOU! 

My union work began when my school fought off a charter co-location. I worked with UTLA staff to rally my coworkers, partnered with parent and community groups. and used innovative strategies to defend our school.

As Chapter Chair, I was the Strike Captain in 2019. I helped unite our SEIU and UTLA staff in 2023. I have served as a Cluster Leader, on East Area Steering, and House of Reps.  I have served as a CTA State Council – Alternate Delegate, and as a Delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly.

As Board Member, I will protect vulnerable communities - Immigrants, LGBTQ+, Special Education Students, and Foster Youth. I am a fierce defender of our students, our schools, and our contract. I will fight for the contract, benefits, and working conditions that our members deserve.
